Plans, credits & billing

Billing, credits, and plans: how VidMints charges

Understand how credits and subscriptions work in VidMints — what each plan includes, how AI tools spend credits, buying top-ups, upgrades, refunds on failed renders, and how to fix common billing problems.

How credits work

VidMints runs on credits. Most AI features — video generation, Face Swap, Talking Avatar, Lip Sync, captions, transcription, translation, and similar tools — spend credits when you use them. Each tool deducts its own amount, so there is no single 'per video' price; a short standard render costs less than a multi-scene Director render, for example. Some things do not cost credits at all: text-to-speech voiceover is free, and video/image downloads are currently free.

Your balance is made up of two separate buckets. Your monthly plan allowance refills to your plan's grant at the start of each billing cycle and does not roll over — unused monthly credits do not stack. Purchased top-up credits are separate: they persist until you spend them, are not wiped by a monthly reset, and do not expire. When you use a tool, VidMints spends your monthly allowance first and only touches purchased top-ups once the monthly bucket is empty.

  • Free — 30 credits/month, 3 MP4 downloads/day, basic editing, watermark, ads
  • Starter — 50 credits/month, Face Swap, Talking Avatar, Lip Sync, unlimited HD/MP3 downloads
  • Pro — 120 credits/month, no watermark, Cinema Mode, priority queue, upload your own videos
  • Business — 350 credits/month, Director Mode, native audio, commercial license, team workspace

Buying credits and upgrading

You can add credits either by upgrading to a higher plan (which raises your monthly allowance) or by buying a one-time top-up (which adds credits that never expire). Both are handled from the Pricing page and the Billing page in your account.

Prices and currency are set for your region automatically at checkout, and the payment gateway shown matches where you are — so what you see is localized rather than a fixed global number. Supported methods vary by region but commonly include debit and credit cards, bank transfer, USSD, mobile money, and wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay where available.

  • Open the Pricing page to compare what each plan includes
  • Choose a plan to upgrade, or select a top-up amount to add non-expiring credits
  • Complete checkout with the region-matched gateway; your balance updates right away across the header, dashboard, editor, and Billing page
  • Review any charge, your plan, and your credit breakdown at any time on the Billing page

When you run out of credits

Before any paid AI tool runs, VidMints checks that your balance covers the cost. If it does not, the action is stopped immediately — nothing is generated and no provider work is started — and a top-up window opens showing exactly how many credits the action needs, your current balance, and the shortfall, along with buttons to buy credits or upgrade. This means you are never charged for a render you could not afford to start.

If you have the exact number of credits an action costs, it will run and leave your balance at zero. There are no partial or overage charges.

Refunds and failed generations

How a failure is handled depends on when it happened. If a request is blocked before it reaches the AI provider — because it failed validation, was rejected, or hit a network error before submitting — no charge is kept and any deduction is refunded automatically, exactly once. You do not need to request this.

Once a job reaches the AI provider and starts running, the compute is billed to VidMints whether it succeeds, fails, or times out, so those credits stay deducted. VidMints still tries to recover and deliver what you paid for: if you disconnect mid-render, the finished asset is saved to your Library when you return. One specific case is treated as a refund — if a Character Speaks base video generates successfully but the lip-sync step fails, VidMints preserves and delivers the base video to your Library and refunds the lip-sync credits, showing a notice and a Retry option. Every generation carries a trace ID so support can follow a single job through its whole lifecycle if you ever need to ask about a charge.

Managing your subscription

When your plan renews, your monthly allowance resets to that plan's grant — it does not stack on top of last month's leftovers — and any purchased top-ups you still hold are preserved. Upgrading or downgrading sets your monthly allowance to the new plan's grant immediately, and again keeps your top-ups untouched.

If a subscription lapses or is cancelled, your account moves down to the Free plan: paid monthly credits stop, but your purchased top-up credits stay in your account and remain spendable. You manage all of this from the Billing page.

Troubleshooting

A few issues come up often and have quick checks.

  • Balance looks wrong or 'I lost credits': open the Billing page to see the full breakdown of monthly vs. purchased credits and your recent activity; monthly credits not rolling over is expected behavior, not a loss.
  • Payment went through but no credits: give it a moment and refresh — grants are applied once per payment and are protected against duplicates, so you will not be double-granted or double-charged; if it still hasn't landed, contact support with your payment reference.
  • Every paid plan unlocks every tool — nothing is plan-gated. If a tool asks for more credits, it's because premium generations (like Cinema and Director modes) cost more credits, not because your plan is too low. Add credits (subscribe or buy a pack) and you can run anything.
  • Charged but no result: check your Library first — disconnected renders are recovered there. If a provider-reached job truly produced nothing recoverable, reach out with the generation's trace ID.

Frequently asked questions

Do unused credits roll over to the next month?

Monthly plan credits do not roll over — they reset to your plan's allowance each cycle, so unused monthly credits do not accumulate. Purchased top-up credits are different: they persist until you spend them and never expire, even across a monthly reset or if your subscription lapses.

If a generation fails, do I get my credits back?

It depends on when it failed. If the request was blocked before reaching the AI provider (validation, rejection, or a network error before submit), you are refunded automatically, exactly once. If the job already reached the provider and started running, the compute is billed regardless of the outcome, so the credits stay spent — but VidMints tries to deliver what you paid for by recovering the finished asset to your Library. The one exception refunded automatically is a failed lip-sync step, where you still keep the delivered base video.

Why can't I use a feature even though I have credits?

Some features are tied to a plan tier, not just your credit balance. For example, no watermark and Cinema Mode require Pro, and Director Mode requires Business. When a feature is plan-gated, the prompt will tell you to upgrade rather than to buy more credits.

Can I download any video, and does downloading cost credits?

Downloads are currently free of credits, but the downloader is only for content you created or have the rights to use — not for taking material that belongs to someone else. Some sources such as YouTube or Instagram can require the operator to configure cookies or a proxy on the server, so a particular download may temporarily fail until that is in place; retrying later or choosing a different source usually helps.
